Impact of the Flood of 2008

August 14, 2008 --

The Flood of 2008 had one major impact on Tucker Manufacturing Co., Inc.  Our web site was knocked out.

Our organization was not directly impacted.  We didn't have any water or sewage back up at our facility here in Cedar Rapids.  We were very lucky compared to a lot of people in our community.

We did experience power outages, access problems to our building and a loss of nearly one week of production, due to the Flood of 2008.  We have experienced power outages in the past week, due to the power company trying to restore power to area downtown businesses, near our facility.  These power outages have disrupted our phone service, voice mail and e-mail recently, as well.  We appreciate your cooperation.

It's been two months, since the Flood of 2008 went through our community.

From the roof of our building on 2nd Avenue East, one can see the flood waters looking towards Downtown and the river.

During the flood, Tucker's own, Darrell and Ron (from the left), visit with a gas company employee about the impact on the infrastructure in our downtown.

Just a couple of blocks to the south of our building you can see more flooding.  I normally drive on 6th Street SE to get to our building and to park.  As you can see the route was under water at the corner of 4th Street and 4th Avenue SE.
