How Pure is Your Water?

What is your TDS level?

Definitions:

TDS = Total Dissolved Solids

bullet

Grains per Gallon = 1 grain of calcium carbonate per US gallon of water.

bullet

Parts per Million (PPM) = 1 part total dissolved solids per 1 million parts of water

Soft Water less than 1 less than 17.1 mg/L less than 4 D
Slightly Hard 1.0 - 3.0 17.1 - 60 mg/L 4.0 - 8 D
Moderately Hard 3.5 - 7.0 60 -120 mg/L 8 - 12 D
Hard 7.0 - 10.5 120 - 180 mg/L 12 - 18 D
Very Hard over 10.5 over 180 mg/L over 18 D
